MaFLA offers the following videos for loan to its membership for one school week. The only cost of the loan is first class return postage, insured for the amount indicated.

Carole Fredericks TANT QU'ELLE CHANTE ELLE VIT! DVD and manual. Connie Fredericks-Malone (Carole's sister) wrote, "I am delighted to know that teachers within the organization (MaFLA) will have access to these materials. The unit's music videos provide a wonderful, visual entrée to contemporary France. Each video is supported by lessons and activities which reinforce grammar and vocabulary. Of course, there is the added advantage of a personal connection to the materials through Carole's childhood in Springfield, MA."

The Effective Teacher - This 8 part video series is correlated to the book "The First Days of School: How to be an Effective Teacher" by Harry K. Wong and Rosemary T. Wong. Both the video series and the book are based on the following research:

  1. There are three basic characteristics of effective teachers.
  2. The most important factor governing student learning is classroom management.
  3. Effective classroom management practices must begin on the first day of school.

INTRODUCTION TO TRP STORYTELLING   For all ages and levels, this video shows the important aspects of TPR.  The approximately two-hour video includes one hour of explanation and one hour of teaching how to teach TPR.

SURF THE WORLD - A FOREIGN LANGUAGE PROMOTIONAL VIDEO  This 15-minute video promotes the study of French, Spanish, German, Japanese, Chinese, and Russian and explores the practical reasons for studying foreign languages.

PUTTING THE WORLD INTO WORLD-CLASS EDUCATION  Produced in collaboration with the National Coalition on Asia and International Studies in the School and narrated by Morley Safer of 60 Minutes, this video communicates the urgent need to expand our nation's international knowledge and skills.  The video is 13 minutes long and can be used to promote dialogue by school boards, state policy-makers, administrators, and parent groups.

WE CAN TALK Cooperative Learning for LEP Classrooms (45 minutes) Kagan Cooperative Learning. Package includes Activity Booklet. Language minority students experience both academic and language gains from cooperative learning. Watch the theory of language acquisition come alive in a wide range of classrooms across the range of grades and content areas.

 MULTIPLE INTELLIGENCES AND THE SECOND LANGUAGE LEARNER 1998 (40 minutes), National Professional Resources, Inc. Observe first–hand how innovative programs in California are incorporating multiple intelligences. Learn how the teacher can reach and teach the second language learner in creative ways that focus on educational environments that recognize multiple intelligences.
