Cemanahuac Educational Community/MaFLA Scholarship for 2008
Are you looking to improve your proficiency in Spanish? Are you a French teacher who has recently discovered that you are teaching a few classes in Spanish? Are you interested in expanding your knowledge of Mexico and its culture? Then perhaps you are the perfect candidate for this cooperative effort between the Cemanahuac Educational Community and MaFLA. This summer the Cemanahuac Educational Community in Cuernavaca, Mexico, is offering a full two-week scholarship for a MaFLA member. The scholarship includes registration, housing (double occupancy), and tuition for two full weeks (Saturday to Saturday) of intensive language study, one all-day field study trip, Latin American studies classes and a certificate of achievement. The scholarship has a dollar value of $967.00 Awardee can stay on for additional days at a discounted rate. Winner is responsible for air transportation, transfer to Cuernavaca, textbooks and personal expenses.
Eligibility: The applicant must be a member in good standing of MaFLA; be a full-time teacher in a public or private school, elementary through high school level, during the 2007-2008 school year; and must carry a teaching load of at least 40% Spanish classes. Applicant must also be willing to share his/her experience by presenting a MaFLA Professional Development Workshop and/or a MaFLA Conference Session.
